When Might a Vitamin D Injection Be Considered?

Vitamin D injections deliver the vitamin intramuscularly, bypassing the digestive system. This can be helpful for individuals who struggle with absorption or who have been advised to supplement by a healthcare professional.

Many people can maintain healthy Vitamin D levels with oral supplements. Injections are only considered when clinically appropriate

Dr Amber Halliday will discuss a safe and appropriate schedule during your consultation but a safe minimum interval would be to have an injection no more than every 6 months.

This should be discussed during your consultation. Combining supplementation routes without medical oversight carries a risk of over-supplementation.

No there is not any downtime. Most patients return to work or normal activities straight away.

A medical consultation is required. Depending on your history, Dr Amber may recommend a blood test before proceeding, to confirm your levels are appropriate for treatment, but it is not always required.

No. Vitamin injections are given intramuscularly (IM) into the arm or thigh and take just a few minutes. Vitamin drips are intravenous (IV) infusions delivered directly into a vein over 30–60 minutes and are classified as medical procedures.

No — IV drips fall outside the scope of aesthetic practice. At Blue Bird Aesthetics, we offer IM vitamin injections only, following a medical consultation to ensure they are safe and appropriate for you.

If you are considering IV drips, ensure the provider is CQC‑registered, medically qualified, and able to manage complications. Avoid mobile or unregulated services offering IV infusions. More information on our blog post here.
