Chaperone Policy – Blue Bird Aesthetics Ltd

Under-18s Consent & Safeguarding Policy – Blue Bird Aesthetics Ltd

Blue Bird Aesthetics Ltd is committed to safeguarding the welfare and wellbeing of children and young people.

As a medical aesthetics clinic, we do not routinely provide cosmetic treatments to individuals under the age of 18. In limited circumstances, treatment may be considered where it is clinically appropriate and in the best interests of the young person.

General Position

• Patients must ordinarily be aged 18 years or over for aesthetic treatments.
• Exceptions may be made for certain medical or therapeutic indications (for example treatment of skin lesions or scarring), subject to full clinical assessment.
• Purely cosmetic treatments for individuals under 18 will not be provided.
• All decisions regarding treatment of a person under 18 are made on an individual basis, with patient welfare as the primary consideration.

Consent

Where treatment of a person under 18 is considered appropriate:

• A parent or legal guardian must be present at consultation and treatment.
• Written parental or guardian consent is required.
• The young person’s understanding, wishes, and capacity to participate in decision-making will be carefully assessed.
• Where appropriate, consideration will also be given to the young person’s maturity and understanding in line with principles of Gillick competence.
• Treatment will only proceed if it is judged to be in the young person’s best interests and clinically indicated.

Blue Bird Aesthetics Ltd reserves the right to decline treatment where there is uncertainty regarding consent, capacity, or welfare.

Safeguarding Commitment

The safety and wellbeing of children and young people is paramount.

If concerns arise regarding:

• Coercion or external pressure
• Emotional vulnerability
• Body image concerns
• Inconsistent consent
• Any matter affecting welfare or safety

treatment will not proceed. Where appropriate, further advice may be sought or treatment may be declined entirely.

Right to Refuse Treatment

Blue Bird Aesthetics Ltd maintains full clinical discretion regarding whether treatment is appropriate.

Treatment may be declined if:

• It is not clinically indicated
• It is not considered in the young person’s best interests
• Safeguarding concerns exist
• Consent requirements are not fully satisfied

Treatment Fees

Fees charged cover professional clinical consultation and assessment, practitioner time and expertise, prescription and administration of medical products, consumables, and clinic overheads. These fees apply regardless of individual treatment outcomes.

Once a treatment has been administered, fees are non-refundable. This reflects the professional services provided and the use of prescription medical products.

Change of Mind

If you decide not to proceed with treatment following consultation, consultation fees (where applicable) are non-refundable.

Treatment Outcomes

Aesthetic treatments involve biological variability. Individual response varies and outcomes cannot be guaranteed. Treatment plans may require more than one session to achieve or maintain results.

Where clinically appropriate, review appointments may be offered. Any additional treatment required will be discussed and charged accordingly unless otherwise agreed.

Known risks and potential side effects are discussed during consultation as part of informed consent. Experiencing recognised side effects does not in itself constitute grounds for a refund.

Prepaid Courses or Packages

If prepaid treatments are offered, terms will be clearly outlined at the time of purchase. Unused treatments may be subject to expiry dates and are non-transferable unless otherwise stated.
