Are there any conditions this treatment isn’t suitable for?
Microneedling is a medical procedure, so there are certain situations where it isn’t the safest option. At Blue Bird Aesthetics, your wellbeing always comes first, and Dr Amber Halliday will assess your skin and medical history carefully before recommending treatment.
Microneedling is not suitable if you have:
• Active acne or cold sores
• Inflamed or compromised skin, including sunburn
• Used oral Isotretinoin within the last 6 months
We also cannot treat you if you are:
•Pregnant or breastfeeding
• Living with scleroderma, certain autoimmune conditions, or skin cancer
In these situations, microneedling may not be the safest choice — but there are often alternative treatments that can support your skin goals more appropriately. For those who prefer a needle‑free option, nanoneedling offers a beautifully gentle way to enhance skin health and radiance. What to Expect From Your Microneedling Course
Your microneedling plan is always tailored by Dr Amber Halliday, but most patients follow a structured three‑session course to ensure the safest and most effective results.
Session 1 — Skin Response Assessment
Your first treatment is performed directly on the skin using a hyaluronic acid glide. This allows Dr Halliday to assess how your skin responds before progressing to medical‑grade depth at later sessions.
Session 2 — Medical‑Grade Depth (with numbing)
Before your second session, a 30‑minute numbing period is applied for comfort. Treatment is then carried out at a clinically appropriate depth, based on how your skin responded at session one. A hyaluronic acid glide is used unless you choose an add‑on product.
Session 3 — Medical‑Grade Depth (with numbing)
Your third session follows the same structure as session two:
• 30 minutes of numbing
• Medical‑grade depth tailored to your skin
Hyaluronic acid glide or your chosen add‑on product
This session helps consolidate collagen stimulation and supports longer‑lasting results.
Maintenance Microneedling
