Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty in Worthing

← Back to Treatment Menu

In Short

  • Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses small, carefully placed amounts of hyaluronic acid dermal filler to refine the shape and profile of the nose.
  • It can soften the appearance of a bump, improve mild asymmetry and create a smoother line from the side. It cannot make a nose smaller or narrower, or improve breathing.
  • The nose is one of the higher-risk areas of the face for filler. Treatment should only be carried out by a medical professional trained to recognise and manage complications.
  • Results are temporary and vary between individuals. A full medical consultation is always required first.

Who Is This For?

  • ✓ You have a mild bump or dip along the bridge you would like to soften
  • ✓ You would like a smoother, more balanced profile without surgery
  • ✓ You want a subtle result that still looks like your nose
  • ✓ You understand that results are temporary
  • ✗ You want a smaller or narrower nose
  • ✗ You have had a surgical rhinoplasty (often not suitable)
  • ✗ You are pregnant, breastfeeding or under 18
  • ✗ You are hoping to improve your breathing

What Is Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a medical aesthetic procedure. Hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler is injected at precise points along the nose to change how its shape and profile look. You may also see it called a liquid rhinoplasty, nose filler or a non-surgical nose job.

Unlike surgical rhinoplasty, it does not remove or reshape bone or cartilage. Instead, a small amount of volume is added in carefully chosen places, so the overall line of the nose looks smoother and more balanced. HA filler is gradually broken down by the body, so results are temporary. If needed, it can usually be dissolved.

At Blue Bird Aesthetics, every non-surgical rhinoplasty is assessed and performed by Dr Amber Halliday, a GMC-registered GP. The aim is refinement, not reinvention: your own nose, in better balance with the rest of your face.

What Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Can Improve

In suitable patients, nose filler may help with:

  • the appearance of a small bump on the bridge (a dorsal hump), particularly from the side
  • a dip or depression along the bridge of the nose
  • a slightly drooping or under-projected tip, where only a modest change is needed
  • mild asymmetry, or a nose that looks slightly off-centre
  • the transition between the forehead and the top of the nose
  • minor contour irregularities, in carefully selected cases

Sometimes the nose is not really the problem. A chin that sits further back, for example, can make a nose look more prominent in profile. Where your facial balance would be better served by treating a different area, such as with chin and jawline filler, Dr Halliday will tell you.

What Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Cannot Do

Being honest about limitations is part of safe practice. Non-surgical rhinoplasty cannot:

  • make the nose smaller, shorter or narrower, because it adds volume rather than removing it
  • narrow wide nostrils or a broad nasal base
  • remove a large hump or correct significant structural problems
  • improve breathing or treat a deviated septum
  • give permanent results

If surgery would meet your goals better, or if non-surgical treatment would carry too much risk for you, you will be told clearly. Where appropriate, you will be advised to seek a surgical opinion. Sometimes the right outcome of a consultation is not to treat.

Our Doctor-Led, Safety-First Approach

The nose has a complex blood supply, and some of its vessels connect with those supplying the eye. This is why the nose is considered one of the higher-risk areas for dermal filler. It is also why training, detailed knowledge of anatomy and being prepared for complications matter so much here.

  • A full medical consultation with Dr Halliday before any decision is made
  • A detailed assessment of your nasal anatomy, your profile and your overall facial proportions
  • Conservative volumes, placed with precise technique
  • Hyaluronidase kept in clinic, with complication protocols in line with guidance from the Aesthetic Complications Expert Group (ACE Group)
  • Clear aftercare, advice on warning signs and direct contact with the clinic after treatment
  • No treatment for anyone under 18, in line with the law in England

Every medical procedure carries risk. A doctor-led approach gives you a thorough assessment, honest advice, and the medical training to recognise a complication and act quickly if one occurs.

Is Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Right for You?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty may be suitable if you:

  • have a mild bump, dip or irregularity you would like to soften
  • would like a more balanced profile without surgery
  • understand that results are subtle and temporary
  • are in good general health

It may not be suitable if you:

  • are under 18
  • are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • have had a surgical rhinoplasty, because altered anatomy and blood supply can significantly increase risk
  • have had permanent or semi-permanent filler in the nose
  • have an active skin infection, cold sore or inflammation in the area
  • have a known allergy to hyaluronic acid filler or local anaesthetic
  • have certain medical conditions, or take medicines that affect bleeding, which need to be discussed first
  • are hoping for a smaller or narrower nose
  • feel that concerns about your appearance are distressing or taking over your life

The last point matters. If worries about your appearance are affecting your wellbeing, your daily life or your relationships, Dr Halliday will talk this through with you sensitively. Sometimes the kindest and most appropriate advice is that filler is not the answer, and that support from your own GP may help more.

What to Expect: Your Treatment Journey

Medical consultationTime to reflectConservative treatmentSettling periodReview

1. Your consultation

Dr Halliday will take a full medical history, including any previous nasal surgery, injuries or filler. She will ask what you would like to change and why, and assess your nose from the front and side in the context of your whole face. You will get an honest explanation of what is achievable, along with the risks and the alternatives. With your consent, clinical photographs are taken for your confidential medical record.

2. Time to decide

You will never be pressured into treatment. You are welcome to take time to think, ask further questions and come back when you feel ready.

3. Treatment

Numbing cream is applied first. Small amounts of filler are then placed using a fine needle or cannula, and the result is checked carefully throughout. The injection part usually takes around 15 to 30 minutes.

4. After treatment

You will see a change straight away, but swelling means this is not your final result. Mild swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising are common, and usually settle within one to two weeks.

5. Review

A review can be arranged at around two weeks, once swelling has settled, to check how the result has settled.

Aftercare

  • Avoid touching, pressing or massaging your nose unless you have been advised to
  • Where possible, avoid resting glasses or sunglasses on the bridge for around two weeks
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and excessive heat for 24 to 48 hours
  • Avoid sleeping face-down for the first few nights
  • Avoid make-up on the treated area for the first 12 to 24 hours
  • Wait at least two weeks before any other facial treatment, unless advised otherwise

You will be given written aftercare advice specific to your treatment.

Risks and Safety

Non-surgical does not mean risk-free. Before deciding, it is important to understand the possible side effects and complications.

Common and usually short-lived:

  • swelling, redness and tenderness
  • bruising
  • temporary unevenness while swelling settles
  • small lumps or visible filler, which can often be adjusted or dissolved

Less common:

  • infection
  • delayed inflammatory reactions or nodules
  • allergic reaction
  • filler spreading, which can make the bridge look wider over time, particularly after repeated or excessive treatment

Rare but serious:

Vascular occlusion happens when filler blocks or presses on a blood vessel. Without prompt treatment, this can damage the skin and underlying tissue and cause scarring. In extremely rare cases, filler in the nose can reach blood vessels that supply the eye and cause sudden, possibly permanent, loss of vision. Stroke has also been reported, exceptionally rarely.

Warning signs after treatment

Contact the clinic immediately on 07860 159 790 if you notice:

  • skin that turns pale, white, mottled, blue or grey
  • pain that is severe, or getting worse rather than better
  • skin that feels cold, or looks blistered or broken

If you cannot reach the clinic, seek urgent medical advice through NHS 111 or A&E.

If you have any change in your vision, eye pain, facial weakness or difficulty speaking, or you feel suddenly unwell, call 999 immediately.

Why You Won’t See Before-and-After Photos

We don’t publish before-and-after photographs of non-surgical rhinoplasty on our website or social media. This is a deliberate choice.

Photographs can be edited, lit or angled in ways that exaggerate a result, and every nose, face and outcome is different. Someone else’s result cannot tell you what is realistic, or safe, for you. We would rather your decision be based on an honest assessment of your own anatomy.

With your consent, clinical photographs are taken as part of your confidential medical record, so your result can be reviewed and any future treatment planned carefully. They are never used for marketing. Some patients choose to share their own experience, and that is entirely their decision.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is non-surgical rhinoplasty safe?

It is a widely performed procedure, but the nose is one of the higher-risk areas of the face for dermal filler because of its blood supply. Serious complications are rare, but they can happen. Treatment should only be carried out by a medical professional who has carefully assessed you and is trained to recognise and manage complications. Dr Halliday will talk through the risks in full at your consultation.

Does non-surgical rhinoplasty hurt?

Topical numbing cream is applied beforehand. Most people describe a feeling of pressure and mild discomfort rather than pain, and the injection part of the appointment is brief.

How long does non-surgical rhinoplasty last?

Results are temporary. Nose filler commonly lasts around 9 to 18 months, and sometimes longer, because the nose moves relatively little. How long it lasts depends on your metabolism, your anatomy and the amount of filler used. Any further treatment is considered only after reassessment.

Can non-surgical rhinoplasty make my nose smaller?

No. Filler adds a small amount of volume, so it cannot reduce the size of the nose or narrow it. What it can do is smooth the line of the nose so it looks more balanced, particularly from the side. If a smaller nose is your main goal, a surgical opinion is more appropriate.

Is there any downtime?

Most people return to normal activities soon after treatment. Mild swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising are common and usually settle within one to two weeks. It is sensible to allow for this if you have an important event coming up.

Can I wear glasses after nose filler?

Where possible, avoid resting glasses or sunglasses on the bridge of your nose for around two weeks, while the filler settles. Specific advice will be given at your appointment.

What if I do not like the result?

Hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. You can read more on our filler dissolving page. A review can also be arranged at around two weeks, once swelling has settled.

I have had a surgical rhinoplasty. Can I have nose filler?

Previous nasal surgery changes the anatomy and blood supply of the nose, which can significantly increase the risk of complications. For many people who have had surgery, non-surgical rhinoplasty is not suitable. Your history will be assessed carefully, and where appropriate you will be advised to return to your surgeon for an opinion.

Can non-surgical rhinoplasty fix a crooked nose?

It can sometimes improve the appearance of mild asymmetry, or a nose that looks slightly off-centre. It cannot correct significant structural problems or a deviated septum, and it does not improve breathing.

Will people be able to tell I have had treatment?

The aim is a subtle, balanced result that still looks like your nose. Results vary between individuals, however, and no specific outcome can be guaranteed.

How is non-surgical rhinoplasty different from a surgical nose job?

Surgical rhinoplasty is an operation that reshapes bone and cartilage and is intended to be permanent. Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses injected filler, cannot reduce size, and is temporary. See the comparison table above for more detail.

Can I combine nose filler with other treatments?

Sometimes. Facial balance is not just about the nose. A retruding chin, for example, can make the nose look more prominent from the side, and chin filler may be discussed as an alternative or an addition. Any combined plan is decided at consultation.
