Plinest is one of the most genuinely regenerative treatments we offer — not because it plumps or hydrates fastest, but because it works by encouraging your own skin to repair itself. Here’s what that actually means, across the three areas Plinest treats.
What Is Plinest?
Plinest is a polynucleotide-based injectable treatment. Polynucleotides are short chains of purified, highly biocompatible DNA fragments that act as a biological signal to your skin’s own repair cells — fibroblasts — encouraging them to become more active.
Where hyaluronic acid skin boosters such as Profhilo deliver hydration you can feel within weeks, Plinest works at a slower, deeper level. The improvement is structural: better elasticity and firmer, more resilient tissue, because the change comes from your own cells responding rather than a product simply sitting in the skin.
The Plinest Range — Face, Eye & Hair
Plinest is a range rather than a single product, matched to the area being treated:
- Plinest (General) — the core treatment for the face and selected body areas, repairing and strengthening skin that has become thin, lax or sun-weathered
- Plinest Eye — a gentler formulation for the delicate peri-orbital area: dark-looking, crepey, fragile under-eye skin that looks tired even after a good night’s sleep
- Plinest Hair — delivered into the scalp to support the environment around the hair follicle, often considered for early thinning or to support hair quality and density
Which formulation — and whether Plinest is the right choice at all — is decided together at consultation. It isn’t a quick fix and doesn’t add volume: if you want a visible change within a fortnight for a specific event, polynucleotides will disappoint you. They reward patience.
How It Works
Once injected, polynucleotides act in several complementary ways: signalling fibroblasts to become more active, supporting the skin’s natural wound-healing and regeneration pathways, offering antioxidant and calming effects, and binding water for a gentle secondary hydrating effect. Results build over weeks to months as increased fibroblast activity translates into real changes in collagen and elastin — which is exactly why the improvement tends to look so natural.
A Note on Ethical Sourcing
Polynucleotides are derived from purified salmon DNA. Dr Halliday checks sourcing carefully before choosing which products to use in clinic: the polynucleotide products used at Blue Bird Aesthetics come from manufacturers whose salmon are sourced from responsibly managed, well-regulated fisheries with established welfare standards. It’s the kind of detail patients rarely think to ask about, but we’d rather you knew.
What to Expect
Your appointment starts with a medical consultation to confirm Plinest is right for you and which formulation suits your concern. Sessions run around 30–45 minutes, with numbing cream used for the eye area. Small bumps at injection points are normal and settle within 24–72 hours, with minimal downtime overall.
A typical course is two to three sessions, two to four weeks apart. Initial changes become visible at around 4–8 weeks and continue developing for several months, with maintenance usually every 6–12 months.
